DISC HARROWS

Always bear in mind some precautions with the disc harrows. Their handling must be done with the utmost care, in order to avoid accidents. The wrong choice of harrow for the execution of a certain job may cause unpleasantness, since the terrain may not be in perfect condition for the following operations and losses will be inevitable.

As for maintenance, the grids need it before, during, and after the campaign.

  • Before:
    • Check the tightness of all nuts and bolts and retighten them if necessary;
    • Lubricate all lubrication cups;
    • Pour oil and/or grease on all friction points.
  • During:
    • In the case of new gratings, retighten all nuts and bolts at the end of the first day's work;
    • On disc harrows, retighten the shaft nuts every 5 hours;
    • Perform the above checks every 50 working hours;
    • Every 100 hours lubricate all grease cups.
  • After:
    • Replace parts in poor condition or with excessive wear;
    • Adjust clearances;
    • Flush with water under pressure;
    • Touch up the paintwork where it has been damaged;
    • Lubricate all lubrication cups;
    • Paraffin all the unpainted parts;
    • Store them under cover and on a hard, dry surface.
    • Poor maintenance damages the grids and leads to a shorter life span with higher expenses

FRESH

Like other implements, the cutter requires maintenance before, during, and after the campaign.

  • Before:
    • Check the tightness of all nuts and bolts and retighten them if necessary;
    • Lubricate the lubrication cups of the rotor support bearings;
    • Check the oil level of all gearboxes and top up if necessary.
  • During:
    • On new or reconditioned implements, retighten all nuts and bolts after the first hour of work;
    • Repeat, every 8 hours of operation, the recommended checks and lubrication;
    • Check the oil level of all the boxes weekly;
    • After all 100 to 150 hours of operation, replace all oils.
  • After:
    • Flush with water under pressure;
    • Check the knives for wear and replace them if necessary;
    • Check the working condition of the transmission and repair it, if necessary;
    • Lubricate all the points at which it is intended;
    • Touch up the paintwork where it has been damaged;
    • Paraffin all the parts not protected with paint;
    • Store it under cover and on a hard, dry surface where the knives will not bury themselves.

If the knives are incorrectly mounted, the cutter cuts poorly, resulting in non-uniform mobilization and causing successive knocks to the bevel pair (crown wheel and drive pinion), damaging them.

Avoid unnecessary costs by taking a preventive approach to the maintenance of your implements. If you have any questions, the Herculano team will always be happy to help.
